We will now be covering the CF root mechanism of XXS3BPL5 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in detail.
Steps to root Galaxy A5
Step 1: Before proceeding, kindly ensure your firmware version which should be official XXS3BPL5 firmware. You can check this in Settings > About Device section
Step 2: You need to make sure to back up complete data of your device in order to avoid any data loss as this rooting mechanism will wipe off your device warranty, hence backing up will ensure that none of this should affect your important information stored in your device
Step 3: Confirm your smartphone model number which should be Galaxy A510F as this tutorial is meant for this device only. Also the CF rooting process will only work on this model. Hence be cautious. You can check the device model in Settings > About Device> Model Number section
Step 4: Kindly connect your device to the PC. In order to make this connection, you will be required to install the USB drivers of Samsung Galaxy A5
Step 5: Once the device is connected to your PC, kindly initiate the manual data back-up process. This process should back up complete data of your smartphone. In case, you have a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod or TWRP installed on your phone, we suggest to back up using the same
Step 6: Kindly make sure your device is more than 90% charged in order to avoid any interruption during the rooting process
Step 7: Now download CF Auto root Android 6.0.1 package for Galaxy A5 to your PC in the form of zip file
Step 8: Next you need to download ODIN v3.09 in the form of zip file onto your PC
Step 9: Switch OFF your phone now by pressing the volume down and home buttons together with power button which will reflect a warning screen. Don’t panic, just press the volume up key to proceed further to the download
Step 10: Now unzip the ODIN package installed onto your PC. Connect the smartphone to the PC in download mode
Step 11: The ID: COM boxes will be flashed onto your smartphone in yellow color reflecting the COM number. Now you need to select the file downloaded in step 1 and click on PDA/AP and select the file CF-Auto-Root-a5xelte-a5xeltexx-sma510f.tar.md5
Step 12: In ODIN mode, select the start button, the installation process will now start and will take 5-10 minutes to complete
Step 13: When the home screen is visible, it’s time to disconnect your device from the PC
Step 14: In case, the device does get boot in recovery mode, we suggest kindly repeating the entire steps again and retrying
